Laminated Pumpkin Brioche topped with Cocoa Nibs

To the tune of Auld Lang Syne I say au revoir Project Food Blog Challenge and Bienvenue à nouveau le week-end.

This little venture has taught me so much and I am happy I decided to participate. I am proud I made it down to the last 46 contestants, an accomplishment in and of itself. Yet, I know I have much more to learn to become a more well rounded food blogger and look forward to growing with you.

Not knowing whether or not I would advance to the next round I decided to be proactive and make a delicious pumpkin post for you. I hope you enjoy it.

Along with me, these fabulous ladies are also some of the Project Food Blog Video challenge exiles, please stop by and check out their pumpkin inspired posts:

Asha from Fork Spoon Knife
Heena from Tiffin Tales
Linda from Salty Seattle
Lindsey from Hot Polka Dot
Liren from Kitchen Confidante
Meaghan from The Decorated Cookie

Demystifying French Macarons

After too many takes and edits to mention, I finally finished my Project Food Blog entry for challenge #7 titled “Video 411”. Oh, and you do realize that I’ve only made it this far because of you, right? I just wanted to make sure that was clear. :)

Well, for this challenge we were asked to bring out our inner [insert your favorite TV celebrity chef here] and share one of our favorite recipes with you via video.

Over the hills and through the woods...

It’s off to work we go…

Oh, but before we go, I just wanted to let you know that I’m so thankful for all your votes and awesome comments. It because of them I’m able to keep going, love ya!

Like I said, because of *you* I find myself writing this 6th post in the Project Food Blog challenge.

At first I couldn’t decide in what direction to take this post. Then, I had an aha! moment. I decided I wanted you to get to know me a little better, and that’s why I’m taking you to work. Don’t worry I won’t make you code… unless you want too? 😉

As you can see from the pictures in the film strips above, my drive is actually quite scenic (aside from the gloomy weather). I drive above Lake Elsinore through Cleveland National Forest over Ortega Hwy (This road has more curves than Marilyn Monroe!), a two lane road which then drops me off in San Juan Capistrano. After a quick ride on Interstate 5 and toll road 73 we arrive in beautiful Aliso Viejo, CA.

Pick your Poison Pizza

Thank you all so much for voting me onto the next round of Project Food Blog, we’ve made it half-way can you believe that?

Before you I present my post for challenge #5, you may be wondering what this challenge titled “Recipe Remix” is all about?

Well, for starters the “Recipe” selected for us was Pizza, and the “Remix” could pretty much be anything. Using molecular gastronomy, sharing your best kept secrets, or totally re-inventing it.

Our pizza criteria was the following: A solid base, a sauce, and at least one topping.

Seems simple enough, right? No, not really… I had the hardest time trying to decide what to make for you. I don’t really have any super secrets to create an amazing pizza. I haven’t had the opportunity to dive into molecular gastronomy just yet, but working my way towards it for sure. And, given the theme of my blog, you know it wasn’t going to be savory. So, dessert pizza it is…

Then, after much thought and deliberation I decided that one dessert pizza just wouldn’t be enough, so I made you two. :)

Who doesn’t love choices right? So, go ahead… pick your poison!

Kentucky Bourbon Panna Cotta

A huge thanks to all who voted for me in challenge #3! I’m very happy to report I’ve made it to challenge #4 where I am to guide you through a recipe via step-by-step “drool-worthy” photos.

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of volunteering for Pastry Chef Sherry Yard during The American Wine & Food Festival, a yearly event hosted by Wolfgang Puck which helps raise funds to support the Los Angeles Chapter of Meals on Wheels.
