Ready for Cookie Month?

November 28, 2010

in Cookies,Recipes

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

My Thanksgiving was a bit untraditional, in that it involved the addition of PJs, boxes of tissue, Tylenol, and cough syrup. This also meant I was forced to watch from the couch as my husband and oldest son prepared our Thanksgiving dinner.

Iā€™m happy to report they did a fantastic job and I was pleasantly surprised to see how well they worked together.

As you can guess, I’ve stayed away from the kitchen since the bug hit me, which seems like it’s been forever. But, thanks to some pretty good antibiotics I should be back in action within the next couple of days. Just in time for “Cookie Month”!

If you recall last year, I named December “Cookie Month” and posted nothing but cookie recipes the entire month. In case you missed it, here a recap of last years cookies.

Oh, and there’s a lot more where these came from… šŸ˜‰

Danish Butter Cookies

Danish Butter Cookies – These cookies are as close as you’re gonna get to those out of the blue tin box, if not better! šŸ˜‰

To the tune of Auld Lang Syne I say au revoir Project Food Blog Challenge and Bienvenue Ć  nouveau le week-end.

This little venture has taught me so much and I am happy I decided to participate. I am proud I made it down to the last 46 contestants, an accomplishment in and of itself. Yet, I know I have much more to learn to become a more well rounded food blogger and look forward to growing with you.

Not knowing whether or not I would advance to the next round I decided to be proactive and make a delicious pumpkin post for you. I hope you enjoy it.

Along with me, these fabulous ladies are also some of the Project Food Blog Video challenge exiles, please stop by and check out their pumpkin inspired posts:

Pumpkin Ale Float

The whether in L.A. has been a little wacky these past few days. Cool and raining one day… then the next it’s like the hands of time have gone back and we are right in the middle of summer again.

Well, they are predicting a few more days of 80 and 90 degree weather this week. So, I came up with a cool and refreshing drink to enjoy, one that reminds us that yes, in fact we have moved onto Autumn and one you can put it together in less than 2 minutes flat!

Apple Tatin Ice Cream Sandwiches

I’ve been reading Chef Migoya’s new cookbook Frozen Desserts for some time now and I have to say I am completely blown away by it. And this by the way has nothing to do with the fact that ice cream happens to be my favorite dessert! šŸ˜‰

This book is truly a masterpiece, some serious time and thought went into the making of this book. I’ve learned so much thanks to the level of detail found in each of the topics discussed and the easy to read explanations. (I’m completely smitten with it.)

As a starting point Chef Migoya takes us through a brief history of frozen desserts. He then moves on to ingredients and the chemistry behind each in relation to frozen desserts.
