Blanched almonds are almonds that have been placed in hot water to help remove the seedcoat or skin.

How to Blanch Almonds

Boil water in a small sauce pan, remove from heat.

Add almonds, cover pan, and let sit for 5 minutes. Discard water.

Peel almonds. The skins should come right off.

Note: This same method can be applied to pistachios.
