My stint with the Girl Scouts was unfortunately very short lived. I earned maybe 5-6 patches and I have to believe the “Computer Fun” badge must have been amongst one of them, based on my current profession and the vague memories I have of my sash.
I also recall being blown away by the fact my parents actually let me go on a weekend camping trip with my troop. Being the only child of elderly parents, it was a huge deal.
Strangely, I don’t recall going out and schlepping our famous cookies, which leads me to believe my parents probably bought the whole lot of boxes I was “supposed” to sell. Being an only child and living in a not-so-desirable neighborhood was probably the reason why. Luckily both my parents and I were gifted with a fabulous sweet tooth, so I’m sure it wasn’t a big deal.
Fast-forward to cookie season 2013… the daughter of one of our friends was selling cookies this past weekend and of course out of the assortment the very first box I set my eyes on was their very last box of Do-Si-Do’s. Crunchy oatmeal cookies with a creamy peanut butter filling, yes please!
And as you can imagine, you know what happens when cocktail Friday rolls around and I have a particular sweet in mind… Mr. Hyde takes over the Dr. Jekll in me and it’s all downhill from there.
- 2 ounces salted caramel vodka
- 2 ounces tres leches liqueur
- 4 ounces heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon smooth peanut butter
- Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled half-way with ice.
- Shake well, strain, and pour into chilled martini glasses.

Every year I seem to be the only person who never gets girl scout cookies. Do Si Do’s are my favorite cookie, I can’t wait to try this martini!
