There is nothing I enjoy more than celebrating the seasons.
Each and every season of course has a very special place in my heart, but I will have to admit that my favorite season as far as weather goes happens to be summer. I love waking up with rays of sunshine beaming across the room; it just fills me up with energy and puts me in the best of moods. Another great thing about summer is bbq’ing and getting together with friends.
One of my favorite things to do during these hot summer weekends is experiment making new cocktails; my friends love to hear that I’ve come up with yet another new concoction for them to try.
I’m going to let you in on one of my little secrets when it comes to refreshing cocktails. Here it goes…Ginger Ale is like the little black dress of the cocktail mixer world. You wouldn’t believe how well it pairs with so many flavors!
Let me give you a couple of examples…
Say it’s been a really rough and long day at work. Tack on a one-hour commute through the Cleveland National Forest on Ortega Highway, ok not so bad…but nonetheless, I just want to get home and reward myself with something crisp and refreshing. I immediately turn to my default weekday non-alcoholic cocktail and make myself one of these:

It’s so simple to make. All you do is get a pretty wine glass, drop in some frozen berries, chunks of frozen cantaloupe, or chunks of your favorite fruit (make sure it’s frozen, and remember, ginger ale pairs beautifully with all varieties of fruit), pour in chilled Seagram’s Ginger Ale, squeeze a bit of lime juice, gently stir and voila!
Sometimes on scorching-hot days the heat brings out the wild woman in me (apparently the feeling is contagious). During days like these I feel the need to bring out the big guns.

Next thing you know I’m doctoring up Seagram’s Ginger Ale with jalapeño tequila…Yeah, it’s good to be me!

- 6 fresh oregano leaves
- 1 ounce jalapeno tequila
- 3 tangerine segments
- 3 ounces Seagram’s Ginger Ale
- splash of lime juice
- Muddle oregano leaves, tequila and lime juice in an old-fashioned-type glass. Add tangerine, ice, and top with Seagram’s Ginger Ale.

Seagram’s Ginger Ale – The Perfect Mixer
Speaking of good times…I wanted to share with you the new Seagram’s GTBU (Good To Be You) Facebook app. This cool new app allows you to recognize and celebrate a milestone or special moment in the life of one of your Facebook friends by marking it with the Seagram’s GTBU Photo Stamp.
Here’s what you do:
- Select a friend you want to celebrate.
- Choose an especially GTBU-worthy photo.
- Apply the stamp and send for their approval.
- Repeat with another friend to prevent envy.

That cocktail would make (almost) any commute tolerable!
What an interesting cocktail! I’m intrigued by this jalapeno tequila.
Jalapeno tequila? Now that’s a way to celebrate summer.
You had me at the mouthwatering pictures. I’ll definitely try the berry version maybe w/ a splash of Riesling for added fun. Jalapeno tequila is a twist.
