A few weeks ago, one Saturday afternoon as I was picking my 15 year old son from a car wash fundraiser organized by his High School Band teacher. He began telling me that if they didn’t raise enough money soon, they wouldn’t be able to continue playing at their High School Football games, or participate in parades because his school did not have any money in their budget to pay for transportation, uniform rental fees, and such associated expenses.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize the financial crisis our California schools is currently facing. We all know they need financial support.
Well, I have some great news to share with you along with a glimpse of hope. Real California Milk is launching this great program to help support our schools. The program is called “Real Seal Appeal” and via this program Real California Milk will be awarding California schools with up to $2 million in cash, books, and prizes! How fantastic is that?!?!
I know most of you don’t go through a few pounds of butter (especially if I’m making my famous Warm Butter Cake -pictured above) or a couple of gallons of milk a week. But I’m pretty sure there is some form of dairy (unless you are intolerant) that gets purchased for your household on a weekly basis.
Thanks to Real California Milk families like yours and mine can help our schools by participating in this program. All we have to do is collect Real California Milk seals from milk and dairy products and turn them into our children’s teachers. Each seal is considered an entry into the sweepstakes, the more we turn in, the greater the chance their schools will win.

Ooo – those cookies! That brioche!
Looks so delicious!
Maybe you could hold a bake sale. People would flock for those butter cookies.
This looks like a great cause, and I am all for supporting CA schools – they need it! But have you ever driven down I-5 in the Central Valley? Feedlot after feedlot, overcrowded dairy farm after overcrowded dairy farm. It bothers me that Real California Milk claims that “happy cows come from California,” when in fact, much of California’s milk is produced inhumanely and unsustainably. And, the actual dairy farmers aren’t getting a fair price for milk. Too bad organic companies that focus on sustainable farming can’t afford to launch donation campaigns like this.
