Sunday Lunch at Panera Bread

Panera Bread Mint Crinkle Cookie

Every now and then the family and I will stop at Panera for Sunday lunch after church. One, because it’s one of the places that if one of us suggests or has a craving for, the rest will agree too. And two, it happens to be conveniently located only a few miles from our house.

Well, this past Sunday was one of those days. However this particular visit was a little different than usual. Because I don’t usually take so many pictures when I go out to lunch, and two because Panera Bread treated me to this lunch. And of course, not wanting to mess with our Sunday routine I brought the family along.

Please ignore the fact that everyone appears to be preoccupied with an electronic gadget. All I can say, is that we were all done with lunch and this picture was taken during “free-time”. I really have no idea where they might have picked up this particular trait from… ;)

Every time without fail when it comes time to order I usually go for the “You Pick 2″ option, what can I say I love choices, and I love being able to sample a menu.

This particular visit I chose to have their French Onion Soup, which rocks, and a half Asiago Roast Beef sandwich. Of course when asked what side I wanted with my meal… I didn’t have to think twice about ordering the baguette.

I usually don’t have to ask the boys what they would like to have, because they order pretty much the same thing every time we eat here. The oldest two always order the French Onion soup in a bread bowl, and because they can’t get enough of the bread they order it with a side of baguette. The youngest goes back and forth between the French Onion Soup and the Chicken Noodle soup. This particular Sunday he chose the Chicken Noodle Sop. And in case you were wondering what happened to the sourdough bread soup vessels, well they were consumed. Yes, every bit of them.

My husband followed my cue and ordered off the “You pick 2″ menu as well. He went with the French Onion Soup and the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. I managed to take a bite of said Chipotle Chicken sandwich, and I have to say it was quite tasty. For those not used to too much spice it might be a bit much, for me… I say bring on the chipotle!

As you can see from what we ordered we have a few family favorites. The French Onion Soup, preferably in a bread bowl and their baguettes.

For dessert the boys and I shared one of Panera’s new cookies the Mint Crinkle Cookie. It was everything you would expect. The cookie was soft and fudgy and the mint didn’t overpower the chocolate at all, perfect balance if you ask me.

Just so you know it wasn’t easy picking dessert… because there were also all these other sweet treats to choose from. Needless to say we were happy with our choice.

Thanks Panera Bread for another great Sunday lunch!

I sweat Panera! Everything from there is delicious. I just made my own version of their broccoli and cheddar soup. (Coincidentally posted it today). Everything looks SO yummy!

I gotta say, Panera always surprises me. It makes one rethink the whole notion of “fast food!”

Soup is so appetising when served in a ‘bread bowl’. Nice post.

Love your blog! I actually ate at Panera for Sunday lunch as well, and split the Mint Crinkle cookie with my husband. Once I took one bite, I was wishing I had one all to myself. Now, I’m on the search for that recipe! OH my, yum!

Mmmm…we love Panera, too! It’s after Saturday evening Mass for us, though. Can’t get enough of their asiago focaccia. Oooh, and their chicken and wild rice soup. Sadly, they never serve it on Saturdays! =(
